PAUL CALVIN BASTIN

Paul Bastin, 71, of Haysville, KS passed away on May 13th, 2011 in Pontiac, Missouri. He was born June 18th, 1939 in Elmhurst, Illinois. Paul is the son of Fred and Orpha Bastin. On March 28th, 1964, Paul married Patsy Mahan and has an endless amount of family and friends and he will be missed dearly by all. Survivors include wife Patsy, his three children Lynn Downs, Jeff Bastin, and Tonya Horward; as well as six grandchildren Sarah Howard, Ashley Bastin, Cassie Howard, Zachary, Brandy and Casey Downs; brothers Wilber and Dave Bastin.

Paul was a man of large stature, but he wore his heart on his sleeve. He could be found every Monday and Friday night near a television so he could watch his wrestling matches. However, the moment the grand kids would flip the channel to a movie and an animal character was in harm's way, Paul was the first to have tears racing down his cheeks. He adored animals, in fact Patsy and Paul had acquired quite the zoo over the years, thanks to his daughters and granddaughters. Paul was a sports fanatic and was watching games whenever he could. He loved nothing more but when he had the chance to get away with his son for an evening at a ball game. He always had the biggest smile and was as ornery as they come; there was never a dull moment with Papa around.

Paul loved nothing more than being a family man and did whatever it took to keep them happy. He truly was everything a person could ask for from a husband, a father, and a grandfather. Paul has now joined his beloved daughter Deborah Bastin-Watson in heaven where we will all meet him one day with open arms. It's not goodbye Papa, it's I will see you soon.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 in the Pontiac Cemetery, Pontiac, MO. A visitation will be on Monday from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO.
