Peggy Jo Armstrong

Peggy Jo Armstrong, 83 years, 3 months, 17 days old, passed away May 5, 2017 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO with her family by her side.

Peggy was born January 16, 1934 in Goodhope, MO to Ezra and Amy Inez (Nelson) Mitchell.

Peggy and Jack Lynn Armstrong were united in marriage December 6, 1955 at Goodhope, MO. They were blessed with two children.

Peggy was a Christian and a member of the Goodhope General Baptist Church. Peggy enjoyed reading, cooking, her flowers, gardening, and visiting with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling with Jack and her family. Her joy was being with her family!

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack in 2016, two sisters, Lavon Lakey and Laverne Halstead, an infant brother, Richard Mitchell and a special nephew, Richard D. Mitchell.

Peggy is survived by her two children and their spouses, Charley & Sybil Armstrong, Springfield, MO, Jo Lynne & Jim Hathcock, Ava, MO, four grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon & Dovi Armstrong, Maggie & Shaun Cornell, Brandon & Summer Hathcock and Elizabeth & Stephen Bledsoe, eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Lendsi, Carly, Dakota, Breeanna, Jorie, Tristan Jack and Ashton, one great-great-grandchild, Thorin, one great great on-the-way, a brother, Mac Mitchell and wife, Lue, a sister Polly Bingaman and husband, Tom and a host of other family and friends.


Funeral services for Peggy will be Monday, May 8th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with cremation following per Peggy's wishes. Visitation will be Sunday, May 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial of her cremains will be at a later date and time in the Goodhope Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Dwain Moore. Memorials may be made to Goodhope Cemetery.
