Ransell Hutchison

Norwood, MO

Ransell Hutchison, 74 years, passed away on April 27, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.

Ransell was born June 26, 1938 in Cold Springs, MO to George and Minnie (Reed) Hutchison.


Ransell was a resident of the Norwood community. He was a 20 year career Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam Conflict on the USS Valley Forge and retired in 1974. He received meritoritorius achievement citations for outstanding performance in combat and for his duties as Leading Petty Officer of the Aviation Stores Division. He was selected to be an instructor at the AK "A" School at the Naval Air Station, Memphis, TN. His class amassed a new school record for the highest marks for the school in the past four years. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL and Copeland Corp. in Ava, MO.


On Nov. 1, 1959 Ransell and Marilyn Miller were united in marriage in Sedro Woolley, WA and to this union two daughters were born. He later met and married Judith Racobs on March 29, 1980 in Long Grove, IA and to this union a daughter was born.


Ransell was a member of Ava VFW Post 5993. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting; raising and showing Arabian and Quarter horses and barrell racing, poles and flags with his horse, Sunny. Ransell was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. He loved laughing and telling stories with his family and friends during deer season. Most of all, Ransell loved being with all his family.


Ransell was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Seri Ann, three brothers, Branford, Lee Fay, and Wayne Hutchison and his brother-in-law, David Racobs.


Ransell is survived by his wife, Judy Hutchison, Norwood, MO, two daughters, Ronelle & his favorite son-in-law, Danny Carzoli, Davenport, IA and Lisa England, Sedro Woolley, WA, two grandsons; Jamie and Tory, three granddaughters; Seri Christine, Grace Abigail and Ivy Danielle and their special parents, Brad & Shawna Nelsen; three great grandsons; Kenny, Damien and Denny and one great granddaughter on-the-way; eight brothers and their wives; Bernie & Lena Hutchison, Ava, MO, Wilburn & Louise Hutchison, Norwood, MO, Manuel & Sue Hutchison, Lost Nation, IA, Floyd & Gail Hutchison, Alabama, Glen Ray Hutchison, Davenport, IA, Terry Hutchison, Davenport, IA, Mike & Kerrie Hutchison, Blue Grass, IA and Gary Hutchison, Ozark, MO; three sisters & husbands, Kathy Blew, Davenport, IA, Marilyn & Chris Wolford, Blue Grass, IA and Vivian & Randy Moore, Buffalo, IA; brother-in-law, Bill Racobs, Castana, IA, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Ransell will be Wed., May 1, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Evansdale Cemetery with full Military Honors by U.S. Navy, Ava VFW Post 5993 and Ava American Legion Post 112.Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Buddy Boyd. Memorials may be made to Evansdale Cemetery.
