Raymond John Barnes, 87, of Isabella, MO, passed to heaven on December 23, 2010 at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, AR. Raymond was born December 15, 1923 in Greene, KS to Forrest and Evelyn Barnes. He was baptized at a young age and got great comfort in attending church.

Raymond and June Green were married on October 9, 1948. To this union two children were born. Raymond began his career in the sawmill business in the late 40's. He owned and operated mills in several communities until 1961 when he moved back to the family farm. Later in the 60's he began a dozing and construction business. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, but his true passion was fishing. In 1983 Ray and June retired and moved to Isabella, MO so they could be close to the lake. Woodworking became his new hobby and he made beautiful furniture for family and friends. Late in life he enjoyed singing solo's at church and spending time with his great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Ruth Koonts of Woodland Park, CO; and one son-in-law Dave Collins. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethel June Barnes; one son Gary Barnes and wife Nyalin of Mountain Grove, MO; one daughter, Linda Collins of Theodosia, MO; one sister, Ardith Bruce of Fountain, CO; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Lutie True Hope Church in Theodosia, MO with Doyle Turner officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in the Lutie Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
