RICHARD HOWARD "DICK" EDWARDS
Richard Howard Edwards, 86, of Theodosia, MO was born March 3, 1929 in Northeast Kansas City, MO to Wilbur Harold Edwards, DDS and Helen Celeste Nelson Edwards. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1946 and immediately joined the Army with consent of his parents. After service in both Occupied Japan and the Korean Conflict he returned to civilian life, completing a business degree at Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg. While finishing his degree, he met and married Elda May Haile on August 5, 1953.
During the course of their 61 year marriage, Dick & Elda built and operated Turkey Creek Ranch Resort in Theodosia, while raising five children. His many interests included fishing, travel, photography and model trains. He vacationed from Alaska to Mexico and many points in between while taking photos of all that interested him.
Due to his declining health, Dick was at the Gainesville Healthcare Center when he passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Helen Louise Bellos and Marianne Meddaugh. He is survived by his wife, Elda, five children and four grandchildren Robert (Loretta), Ashley, Ryan and Kyle of Theodosia; David (Cheryl) and Caleb of Osceola, MO; Carl of Sedalia, MO; Diane of Houston, TX; and Eric of Santa Clara, CA.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. Funeral services will be at 11 .am. Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Theodosia United Methodist Church with burial in the Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia, MO. Pallbearers are his sons, Robert, David, Carl and Eric, and his grandsons, Ryan, Kyle and Caleb.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Theodosia United Methodist Church or the Lutie Cemetery. Arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
