RICHARD R. MARTIN

Richard R. Martin, 98, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at a Topeka retirement community. He was born on August 20, 1910 in Tecumseh, MO, the son of Thomas O. and Bertha R. Garrett Martin.

He was a grade school teacher, teaching 21 years in Missouri and 21 years in Kansas. Richard resided in Bloom, KS and Cimarron, KS prior to moving to Topeka in the early 1980's. He was also a member of the Methodist Church. Richard married Juanita Kesterson on April 1, 1934 in Hocomo, MO. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1995.

Mr. Martin is survived by three sons James R. Martin of Jensen Beach, FL, Richard T. Martin of Topeka, KS, and Paul G. Martin of Wichita, KS; one daughter Jeannette A. Savely of Topeka, KS; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; and one sister Eunice Langston of Caulfield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Juanita, and one son Jackie R. Martin.

Services will be Monday, September 22, 2008, 10:00AM at Clear Springs General Baptist Church near Tecumseh, MO with Joe Gaddy officiating. Interment will be in Clear Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
