Richard Monteleone
Seymour, Missouri
Richard Monteleone, 67 years old, of Seymour, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 27, 1958, in St. Charles, Illinois, to Ralph and Barbara (Hofmann) Monteleone, Rick grew up near the children’s author, Marguerite Henry, who wrote the book “Brighty of the Grand Canyon”. The author had a donkey named Brighty, and Rick would ride him regulary, even in equestrian shows.
He grew up in a family with a deep love of horses. Following his graduation from Seymour High School, Rick was a cowboy at ranches in Wyoming and Oklahoma. He later worked as an electrician. He loved hunting, floating, camping, and riding around in his jeep. But above all, Rick loved his wife of forty years and his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a hard working, loving man who always had a good story.
Rick is survived by his wife, Tammy; children, Lacy Monteleone, Tristan (Matt) Shaner, and Lane (Sierra) Monteleone; grandchildren, Abel, Ellen, Avery, Ralph, Alaina, and future grandson, Axel; sisters, Marcy Turner, Laurie (Steve) Kastning, Sandy (Stan) Young, and Mona (Richard) Monteleone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Dewey Turner.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to MercyHealth Foundation and ask your medical provider if an annual lung screening is right for you.
