Robert T. Clopton Jr., 69 years, passed away on June 10, 2016 at his home.

Robert was born August 12, 1946 in Panama Canal Zone, to Robert T. and Jessie Bell (Richardson) Clopton Sr.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the U.S. Army after serving over 20 years, where he received many honors.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ava, MO, where he was active in scouting.

After retiring he enjoyed traveling with the LDS Singles Group and was fondly known to say, "Smile and be happy!"

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.


Robert is survived by two daughters, Opel Viorato-Ruiz, Kansas City, KS and Karen Drake, Springhill, FL, four grandchildren; David, Shonna, and Joseph Drake all of Springhill, FL and Theodore Barnard, Kansas City, KS, one brother, Charles Clopton, Concord, CA, three sisters; Carolyn Bliss, Huggins, MO, Florence Chesson and Rockfellow Eades both of Richmond,VA, and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Robert will be Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ava, MO with Bishop Carlton Barrus officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd., St. Louis, MO with full military honors. Memorials may be made to LDS Boy Scouts of America Troop #68, Rt. 1, Box 385, Ava, MO 65608. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
