Robert "Bob" Eugene Day, 80 years, 1 month, and 7 days old, passed to Heaven on October 3, 2015 at his home in western Douglas County with his family by his side.

Bob was born August 27, 1935 in Springfield, MO. He was the fifth son and tenth child born to Marshall and Clara Edith (Austin) Day. Bob was a child of God and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church at Highlonesome.

On September 11, 1970 Bob and Barbara Maggard were united in marriage in Miami, OK and to this union two children were born.

Bob was a retired truck driver and had worked for 24 years for Associated Wholesale Grocer's in Springfield, MO. He also was a farmer.

Bob was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed working and most of all he enjoyed his family and especially his grandkids.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Lester, Fletcher, Leonard, Kenneth, and Bert and four sisters, Mildred Andrews, Ruth Peacock, Doris Altaffer and Geraldine Willis.


Bob is survived by his wife Barbara, of 45 years, two children; Bobbi Hicks and husband, Rodney, Sparta, MO and Adam Day, Ava, MO, three grandchildren; Tiffany Lafferty and husband, Kyle, Sparta, MO, Hunter Day and Stetson Day, Ava, MO, one great granddaughter, MayCee Jo Lafferty, Sparta, MO,
one sister, Arletta Phelps and husband, Gerald, Wichita, KS, two brothers; Ronald Day and wife, Xiva, Strafford, MO and Larry Day, Springfield, MO, a brother and sister-in-law, Loren & Hazel Maggard, Oldfield, MO. Bob leaves behind a host of neighbors, friends, and many nieces, nephews whom he loved dearly.


Funeral services for Bob will be Wed., Oct. 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Oldfield, MO (UU Highway) with burial in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 6th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry Loveland and Rev. Lee Maggard. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church or Mt. Olive Cemetery.
