Obituary

Funeral Services for Robert Eldon Hathcock, 38, of Thornfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO. Burial will be in the Thornfield Cemetery.

Robert was born on February 22, 1984 to Jamie Wyman and Denziel Hathcock in Springfield, MO. He was a lifelong resident of Ozark County.

After studying Criminal Justice at Drury University, Robert worked as a Deputy for Ozark County, where he was lead investigator. After leaving the Sheriff's department, he worked for the past several years as an investigator for the Children's Division of Social Services in Ava, MO and the surrounding area.

Robert had many nicknames. Rob, as he was known by most. Robbie Doo, a nickname given to him by Harold Cooper. Robert E., as Nyla called him. He was also called #1, Brownie and Grandma's Favorite (the nickname he gave himself, but we all knew it was true).

Rob loved the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed many fishing and hunting trips with family and friends. He traveled to Colorado with his Dad and he took several trips to Warsaw with his Uncle Larry.

2022 had been quite a year for him. He took a family vacation with Jessi, her parents, Nyla and Teagan to Orange Beach, Alabama. Rob also went on an off-shore fishing trip to Venice, Louisiana with Jeff Ryan. He took many spur of the moment fishing trips with his dad.

Robert had a rough exterior with a heart of gold. Kids loved him. He was a father figure to his nieces, Santana (Ninny, as he called her) and Teegan, along with Nyla.

Robert is survived by the love of his life Jessi, and Nyla, whom he loved as his own, of the home. His Mom, Jamie Wyman and her husband Keith, his Dad, Denziel Hathcock, his sister, Jessica and Nieces Santana and Teagan, and his Brother, Dominick Springer. Also, his Aunt Gail Reich, Uncle Larry Turner and Aunt Lora, Uncle John Turner, Uncle Gier Turner, many cousins (including the KC Bunch), and extended family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa, Alene and Ancil Turner, Grandpa and Grandma, Hayden and Vonna Dean Hathcock, Uncle Dexter Hathcock, and Aunt Sue Bennett.

Rob will be missed by so many.

Memorial contributions may be made to Thornfield Cemetery, St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Helping Hands. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
