Robert Leroy "Bob" Carter

Burlington Junction, MO (formerly of Ava, MO)

Robert Leroy Carter, 75 years, passed away on August 24, 2013 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO from a short illness.

Bob was born June 25, 1938 in Caney, OK to Howard Taft and Ethel Pearl (Trigg) Carter. He graduated from high school in Stockton, CA.

Bob was a recent resident of Burlington Junction, MO moving from Ava, MO. He was a retired Advertising Salesman with the Stockton Daily Record Newspaper in Stockton, CA. He had worked there for 38 years.

On February 14, 1960 Bob and Shirley Jean Ratcliff were united in marriage in Carson City, Nevada and to this union four sons were born.

Bob enjoyed gardening, his pets, tinkering on cars. Most of all, Papa enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He was a very kind, gentle, wise and generous person.

Bob was preceded by his parents and one sister, Iris Corley.


Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean Carter, Burlington Junction, MO (formerly of Ava, MO), four children, Robert Leroy Carter, Jr., Stockton, CA, Charles Carter, Hamburg, IA, Jeffrey Carter, Ava, MO and Michael Carter, Burlington Junction, MO, seven grandchildren; Michael, Christopher, Robert III, Alexis, Angel, Nicole, Bobbie Jean, seven great grandchildren; Jonathon, Khloe, Andre, Elijah, Matthew, Eleonah and Lanessa, two sisters; Sandra Carter and Janice Gordon both of Stockton, CA and one brother, Howard Carter, Stockton, CA, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Cremation services for Bob are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to your local American Cancer Society.
