Robert "Bob" Royce Snelson, age 79, of Wasola, Mo, passed away on June 18th. Bob was born in Thornfield, Mo on July 21, 1938 to Fred and Thelma (Farnsworth) Snelson.
Bob married Mary Lou (Robbins) on July 05, 1958. They were looking forward to celebrating their 60th anniversary with family and friends. Bob spent his entire life working in agriculture. He spent many years as owner operator of Beef, Dairy, and Poultry farms in Douglas, Ozark, and Lawrence Counties in Missouri. He spent over 20 years in various management positions for large poultry companies in Missouri, Arkansas, and Minnesota. He began his poultry career as the artificial inseminator for his own turkey operation in Wasola. Bob and Mary Lou loved to travel especially to the mountains of the western United States. Bob was a very accomplished and avid fisherman. He loved to fish for sport or for competition. He loved to fish with his longtime friends and fishing partners Don Beason and Dean Gautney. He taught the love of fishing to his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Wasola; four children; Rick and Lynda Snelson of Ava, Mo; Vicki and Halbert Smith of Gainesville, Mo; Karen and Bruce Humphrey of St. Joseph Mo.; and Shannon and Darren McIntosh of Raymore, Mo; and seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; Landon and Tara Snelson and their children Lauren, Avery, and Ryan; Lindsay and Mark Barnum and their children Abby, Ellie, and Hudson; Crystal and Sawyer Deakins and their children Tead and Cadyn; Titus and Jessica Smith; Jacob Humphrey; Duke and Scarlett McIntosh. He is also survived by one brother Gary Snelson and wife Debbie of
Gainesville, two sisters, Betty and husband Neal Ethridge of Scottsdale, Arizona, Linda and husband Bill Warren of Henderson, Nevada.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Randy Snelson.
Graveside Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Wasola, MO with Halbert Smith officiating. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
