ROBERT EDWARD SODERBERG
Robert Edward Soderberg, age 78, of Theodosia, Mo. and formerly Aurora, IL. died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at his home. He was born July 3, 1929 in Rockford, Il. The son of the late Henry and Ethel Soderberg.
He served his country honorably with the US Navy from 1946-1951. He worked as a carpenter in Aurora, IL. And subsequently went into auto mechanics and service station management in Aurora, and DeKalb, IL. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, and the Tiger Athletic Club of Aurora. In 1975 he relocated to DeKalb, IL. with his wife Esther.
He is survived by his loving wife, Valetta of the home, whom he married on March 10, 1989 in Eagle River, WI, his children, Diane Achuff of Land'O Lakes, WI, Jeffrey Soderberg and wife Jane of Glen Ellyn, Il., and Gregory Soderberg and wife Cherie of Eden Prairie, Mn.; 29 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; step children Richard Lamb of Davenport, Ia., Lynn Marie Jones of Davenport, Ia., Pamela Foster of Silvis, Il., Judy Springstein of Davenport, Ia; .brothers Kenneth Soderberg and wife Hanne of Hampshire, Il., Ray Soderberg and wife Gayle of Belvidere, Il. and sister Colleen Zahm of Bonita Springs, Fl., and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Esther (Peters) Soderberg, parents Henry and Ethel (Fancsali) Soderberg.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 17, 2008 2-4 pm. Funeral services will be Monday 10:00 am at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, Mo. with Tom Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia, Mo.
