ROGER ERWIN SUMAN
Roger Erwin Suman, 70, of Tecumseh, MO passed to heaven on October 17, 2011 at his residence. He was born on February 24, 1941 in Harrold, SD the son of Russell and Helen (Ronnfeldt) Suman.
Roger was a veteran, having proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959-1961. On December 12, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jean Gaddy and this year would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Roger moved to Kansas City, MO in 1961, where he worked at Bendix. He later worked for Marlen Research in Overland Park, KS, and H.E.S. International in Kansas City, KS retiring as a Tool & Die Machinist. Roger spent tireless hours coaching and mentoring 3 & 2 baseball. He also coached many little league football and basketball teams. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and watching NASCAR (even fulfilling a lifelong dream by attending the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis, IN). He loved KU sports and his all time passion was hunting deer. He was a member of the NRA and re-loaded ammunition. After he retired, Roger and Jean moved to Tecumseh, MO where he built their dream home. He was a cancer survivor, and had recently volunteered his services to the Ozark County Relay For Life.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Helen Suman; one brother Glen; and one sister Mavis. He is survived by his wife Jean of the home in Tecumseh, MO; his three children Russel Suman of Tempe, AZ, Jeanna Smith of Belton, MO and Todd Suman and wife Lori of Ozark, MO; eight grandchildren Cassandra, Tyler, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Mallory, Isaiah, Ali and Zac; one great granddaughter Emma Lynn; one brother Ralph; one sister Marilyn; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services for Roger will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Barry Fielder officiating. Interment will follow in the Faye Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
