ROSE MARIE BAUGHMAN
Rose Marie Baughman, 86, of Gainesville, MO passed away on February 24, 2017 at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born September 6, 1930 in Gainesville, LA, the daughter of James Walter and Artis Marie (Griffin) Sims.
Rose was delivered by a mid-wife. She grew up in Louisiana and despite being blind since birth, Rose graduated high school then attended Louisiana State University (LSU), where she received a Master's Degree in music. She taught music for the majority of her life and touched many lives in doing so. On June 7, 1954 Rose was united in marriage to Joe Baughman in Conway, AR. It wasn't until the 1990's when Joe and Rose moved to the Ozarks. They made their home in Gainesville. Joe preceded Rose in death in April of 2016.
Rose is survived by one son, Mike Baughman of Gainesville, MO; one sister Billy Jean Melton of Shreveport, LA; and one brother Robert Louis Sims of Beaumont, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Artis Sims and her husband Joe Baughman.
