Ava, MO

Roy Lee Burton, 89 years, 3 months, and 7 days old, passed away on June 29, 2015 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with his family by his side.

Roy was born March 22, 1926 in Squires, MO to George and Ola (Frye) Burton.

Roy was a life long resident of the Ava community.
On September 21, 1945 Roy and Syble Morrison were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union five children were born.

Roy was a Dairy Farmer and had also worked as a Custodian at Ava Public Schools for 19 years. Roy had also worked at Owens Filling Station and Douglas County Feed Mill in Ava. He was a Christian and had attended the Murray Church.

Roy enjoyed his mules,squirrel hunting and gardening.
He loved being with his family and especially his grand and great grandkids.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Syble in 2006, a daughter, Anna Jean Cornett, a daughter-in-law, Becky Burton, son-in-laws, Junior Harlin Cornett and Chuck Adams, three brothers, Ray, Bob and Jack Burton, three sisters, Susie McGill, Mary Jordan and Aliene Heimeyer and, half brother, Luther Frye.


Roy is survived by four children, Alvin Burton, Ava, MO, Joyce & Kenny Smith, Ava, MO, Darlene Burton, Ozark, MO and Sue Adams, Rogersville, MO, eight grandchildren,12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Roy will be Thursday, July 2, 2015, 10:00 a.m. in the Murray Cemetery, Squires, MO. Officiating will be Chaplain Jeff Smith. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to Murray Cemetery.
