Roy Thomas (Tom) Johnson

Roy Thomas Johnson, 63 years, 8 months, and 24 days old, passed to Heaven on September 16, 2016 at his home outside Ava.
Tom was born December 23,1952 in Birmingham, Alabama to Roy and Betty (Masterson) Johnson.
Tom worked in the aircraft industry for over 20 years, being employed by Boeing and Raytheon.
He was a Marine Corps Veteran and served during the Vietnam war. Tom was a mechanic on Cobra assault helicopters.
Tom was a Christian and a member of Sweden Church in the Sweden community, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle. His favorite place to be was on his John Deere tractor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and he never knew a stranger.
Tom was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife Linda of the home, his mother, a step son, Brian Hallum and wife Amber of Oklahoma City, OK, three grand children, Eli, Sophie, and Theo, and three sisters, Susan, Sandi, and Lois, as well as many other family and friends who will miss him greatly.
Funeral services for Tom will be Thursday, September 22nd at 10:00 am in the Clinkingbeard Chapel. Burial with military honors will be at Friday, September 23 at 11:00 am in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Bro. Josh Strong. Memorials may be made to Gideons.
