Ruby Sievert

Ruby Elaine Sievert, 77 years, 3 months, and 27 days old, passed to Heaven on December 22, 2015 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO from a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.

Ruby was born August 26, 1938 in Ozark County, MO to Glen and Saless (Herd) Hartley.

On September 16, 1959 Ruby and Carl Sievert were united in marriage
and to this union one son, Charlie was born. Ruby and her Carl lived on the farm in the Wasola area. She was a retired Public School Teacher from Lee's Summit, MO and Ava Public Schools. She had taught in Ava for many many years. Ruby graduated from Gainesville High School, Gainesville, MO. She received her degree at the College of the Ozarks and then later received her Masters Degree from Warrensburg, MO.

Ruby was a Christian and a long time member of the Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Wasola, where she played the piano for church services.

Ruby was also a member of the Missouri State Retired Teachers Association, The Red Hat Club and the Nimble Thimble Quilt Club. She enjoyed quilting and always had quilts finished and in progress. Ruby also enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and canning. Her pickle beets were often requested by her nieces and nephews. Ruby always had a beautiful row of Zinnia's. She and Carl loved going to the fourth Sunday singings and loved to hear Lola and group sing.

Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Charlie Sievert in 1991 from a diving accident, her parents, one sister, Marianne Hathcock, two brothers, Glen Robert "Bob" Hartley and Lynn Ronald "Ronnie" Hartley.


Ruby is survived by her husband, Carl Sievert of the home, one sister and husband, Sharon & Roy Keeland, Independence, MO, sister-in-law, Phyllis Hartley, Springfield, MO, brothers-in-laws, Martin Hathcock, Ava, MO, Clifford Sievert, Willard, MO, sister's in laws and their husbands, Corine & Troy Hicks, Naples, FL, Maxine & James Graves, Olathe, KS, Jessie High, Camdenton, MO, June & Carl Huff, Lee's Summit, MO, Judy & Glen "Bo" Looney, Olathe, KS, Vivian & Larry Haynes, Ava, MO and Lola & Eddie Mayberry, Wasola, MO, many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Ruby will be Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Oak Grove General Baptist Church, Wasola, MO with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Rev. Dwain Moore. Memorials may be made to Gideon's International.
