RUBY JEWELL SIMPSON

Ruby Jewell Simpson, 96, of Gainesville, MO formerly of Alton, MO, passed away July 29, 2020 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mtn Home, AR. She was born March 1, 1924 in Alton, MO to John and Ollie (Roberts) Thompson.

Jewell was a Christian being baptized as a teenager. She graduated from Alton High School in 1942, two days after marrying Warren T. Simpson on May 13, 1942. Jewell was a loving mother and grandmother.

Upon receiving as a gift from Warren T. a sewing machine, she started a career of making clothing for her family and others. She enjoyed cannning from their garden, cooking, painting, ceramics, making quilts, and needlepoint. She was a very gifted person who enjoyed being a homemaker.

In later years Jewell was a cancer survivor at age 80. Upon leaving Alton to be closer to the girls, she and Warren T. enjoyed going to listen to music, taking trips, and visiting friends and family back in Alton. She was blessed with a long life.

Jewell is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Sue Simpson and Carolyn Jean Johnson and husband Jimmy all of Gainesville, MO; four grandchildren Paige Kilpatric, Penny Britt and husband Gene, Shay Kilpatric, Bill Cochran and wife Amanda; nine great grandchildren Sierra, Ally, Abby, Aspyn and husband Lain, Eli, Zyler, Aarow, Calla, and Mason; one great-great granddaughter Aubrianna Malii; and one sister Reva Cates and husband Garland of Holden, MO; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ollie Thompson; and her beloved husband Warren T. Simpson.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Bailey Cemetery, Alton, MO with Robert Wiggs officiating. A come-and-go visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House; 774 Long St; Mtn Home, AR  72653. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO  65655.
