Ruby Rae Wallace
Thornfield, MO
Ruby Rae Wallace was born June 4, 1919 in Pond Fork, MO, the daughter of King and Minnie (Duckworth) Mahan. She passed away Sept. 13, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO. She was married to Archie M. Wallace for more than 57 years before his death in 1998. They lived at Pond Fork, MO on the family farm that had been homesteaded by her grandfather.
Ruby's life revolved around her family and life on the farm. Her work ethics and faith in God were very evident in her daily life. She always expected her children and grandchildren to do the right thing and work to achieve their best. Early on she milked cows, raised bottle calves, helped put up hay and always had a big garden that fed the family throughout the year. Anyone who visited her home was expected to eat cookies, cake or pie before leaving regardless of why they were there. She enjoyed finding new baby calves, watching her garden grow and wanting to know if there was a blackberry crop this year. She enjoyed fishing with Archie and doing anything that involved the kids and grandchildren. She was a great story teller, sharing the family's history in the community. She attended the General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children. Son, Maynard and wife Linda of Thornfield, MO, daughters, Betty Craig and husband Ted of Columbia, MO, Sue Weber of DeSoto, MO and Patti Roberts and husband Danny of Springfield, MO.
Eight grandchildren, Michelle Nilges (Shawn) of Forsyth, MO, Michael Wallace (Tina) of Thornfield, MO, Nicole Keller (Jeramy) Branson, MO, Michael W. Weber (Laney) Houston, TX, Betsy Weber (Doug) DeSoto, MO, Amanda Bouse (Tommy) Springfield, MO, Amber Roberts, Springfield, MO and Matthew Roberts of Springfield, MO. Thirteen great grandsons, Seth Nilges, Lake Keller, Casey Wallace, Cale Wallace, Hayden Roberts, Kannon Keller, Gus Keller, Riley Wallace, William Weber, Beau Weber, Oliver Bouse, Michael C. Weber and Winston Bouse and one great granddaughter, Kieran Weber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, infant sister and son-in-law, Michael Weber.
Special thanks to Marianna of Visiting Angels. With her loving care Ruby was allowed to live out her life at her home and to the Hospice program at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO. Their loving kindness helped guide and support our family through the painful loss of our Mother.
