Russel went home to be with his Savior at 11:14 p.m., October 5th, 2010 at his home after battling cancer for several months. He was born on July 12, 1954 at Dr. Hoerman's office in Gainesville, MO to Merle and Elva (Thomas) Hill.

Russel was a dedicated, hard working store manager, and was most recently the manager of "Big Lots" in West Plains, MO, until he became too ill to work. He was, more importantly, a loving and dedicated family man. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was working around "Hillville" (as he called his little plot of ground), fishing with his wife, Denise, or just enjoying the beautiful countryside. Russel will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He was a source of strength and inspiration to many people.

Russel is survived by his wife, Denise, of the home; three sons; Paul Hill of Willow Springs, MO, Gary Hill of West Plains, MO, and Danny Hill of Springfield, MO; two stepsons Gary Bowling and Venita of CO, and Tommy Bowling and B.J. of Caulfield, MO; two stepdaughters Brandy Baker and Rick of IN, and Amanda Smith and Daniel of Eureka Springs, AR; nineteen grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Hill and Mary of Springfield, MO; two sisters Janis Ray and Lee of Wasola, MO, and Karen Mahan and Corkey of Pontiac, MO; a host of nieces and nephews, and a good friend and coworker, Kathy Van Wick.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Elva and Merle Hill, one sister, Gloria Quackenbush, and one brother, Danny G. Hill, his grandparents, one niece, Patricia (Quackenbush) Strong.
