Ava, MO

Russell Curtis, 68 years, passed to heaven on April 25, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Russell was born December 31, 1945 in Rockbridge, MO to Lawson C. and Thedith V. (Arnett) Curtis.

Russell was a life long resident of the Ava community. He was a member of Souder Church of Christ. On October 1, 1971 Russell and Linda Lindsey were united in marriage in Garden City, KS and he was a beloved father to 3 children. Russell was a road grader operator for the county. He was a Vietnam Veteran.

Russell enjoyed cutting wood, trapping, fishing and hunting. He liked to travel the roads with his grandkids, Mason and Andy. His children were his pride and joy. Family was, without a doubt, the thing he loved most in life.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and seven sisters.

Russell is survived by two sons, Lawson and wife Tracie, Ava MO, Russell Dean and wife Kim of Ava, MO, a daughter, Robyn and husband David of Ava, MO, a sister Louise Harp of Aldrich, MO, ten grandchildren, Jessica and husband David, Andy, Mason, Whitley, Elizabeth, Tyler, Makenna, Victoria, Steven, and Kenneth, six great grandchhildren, Olivia, Paxton, Logan, Kynsie, Luke, and Izzy, his loving ex-wife Linda Curtis, very special friend and Mother in law Betty Shuller, and many other neices, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Russell will be Tuesday, April 29 , 2014, 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Souder Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday, April 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor E.J. Hampton. Memorials may be made to Souder Cemetery or the Disabled Veterans of America.
