Russell Verl Turner, 93 years, 7 months, and 8 days old, passed to heaven on April 24, 2016 at Gainesville Healthcare Center.

Russell was born September 16, 1922 in Squires, MO to Earl and Ica (Wilkenson) Turner.

Russell was employed as a farmer. He liked to go hunting, fishing, gardening and enjoyed working on his farm.

Russell and Therma (Johnson) Turner were united in marriage on December 30, 1944 in Mountain Home, Arkansas and to this union 2 children were born.

Russell was preceded by his parents; wife, Therma Turner; 1 grandson Brandon Turner; a sister Reba Herrell; and a son-in-law Darrell Jones.


Russell is survived by a daughter, Ruby Jones of Theodosia, MO; a son Denzill Turner and wife Debbie of Theodosia; one sister, Louise Chandler of Squires, MO; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many neices and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Russell will be Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday April 27th from 6-7 in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Hodges. Memorials may be made to donor's choice of charity.
