Sharon Kay Sanders, 79 years, 3 months, and 27 days old, passed away on May 29, 2023 at her home with family by her side.

Sharon was born February 2, 1944 in Ava, Missouri to Orvil and Retha Virginia (Holt) Vinson.

She was a 1961 graduate of Ava High School.

On June 29, 1963 Sharon (Vinson) and Loren "Eddie" Sanders were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri by Eddie's uncle, Rev. Carl Willis. Together they were blessed with two children, Cindy and Gregory. Sharon worked at Rawlings and Mansfield Shoe Company before establishing her own quilting business.  Over her career, she quilted over 10,000 quilts for family, friends and customers all over the United States.

Sharon was also instrumental in establishing the Douglas County Historical Society. She loved geneaology, Douglas County and it's citizens. She also enjoyed carrying on her family tradition of raising Jersey and Polled Hereford cattle.  Her main pleasure was spending time with her family and friends and lending a helping hand whenever needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Barbara DeVore, and Janey Genius.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Loren "Eddie"; daughter, Cindy Sanders and son, Gregory Sanders and wife Jackie (Olathe, Kansas); three grandchildren, Alexis Derritt (Lawrence, Kansas), Talan, and Leighton Sanders (Olathe Kansas); her brother, Tom Vinson; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services for Sharon will be Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 10:00 A.M.         at Turkey Creek Cemetery, Ava, MO, FF Hwy. 209. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31st from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.  Officiating will be Rev. Junior Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Douglas County Historical Society. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home,  Ava, MO.
