Ava, MO
Shirley Brooke departed this life on October 5, 2009, at the age of 82 years after a short illness with lung cancer. He was born June 28, 1927, in Douglas County Missouri, to Shirley Brooke Sr., and Sarah Ethel (Dollar) Brooke. He served in the United States Navy at the end of World War II and during the Korean War. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior while in the Navy. On June 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Virginia Pauline Moore, and to this union three children were born.
Shirley was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, Kenneth Brooke and Voyne Brooke, and one sister Barbara Schmoker. He is survived by his wife Pauline, one son Roger Brooke, and two daughters, Stephanie Corder and husband Jeff and Mary Ann Brooke, all of Ava, MO. He is also survived by one sister Wanda Moore of Ava, MO, and one brother Stanley Brooke of Springfield, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Whites Creek Cemetery on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 10 AM under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with Bro. Larry Vinson officiating. No formal visitation service is planned.
