SONDRA JO HAMMOND

Sondra Jo Hammond, 49, of Brixey, MO passed away on November 13, 2012 at her residence. She was born on April 14, 1963 in Bakersfield, CA, the daughter of Donald and Sheridan (Hoggatt) Newman.

Sondra graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, IL, class of 1981. She was united in marriage to Jerry Hammond on October 2, 1982 in Alton, IL. To this union three children were born. In 1992 the family moved to Cheyenne, WY for Jerry's job. They then moved back to Alhambra, IL, where they remained until he retired. After retirement, Sondra and Jerry moved to the Ozarks in 2002 and made their home in Brixey, MO. The last few years she has worked as a dispatcher for the Ozark County Sheriff's Department. Sondra was a very kind and generous person. She had an unconditional love for everyone. She never spoke a bad word about anyone. She followed the teachings of Yeshua, Jesus the Christ, and this was exemplified by her life. Sondra was delighted at every opportunity she had to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Sheridan Newman. She is survived by her husband, Jerry of the home in Brixey, MO; three children Amanda Hammond, Eric Hammond and Katie Hammond all of Alton, IL; granddaughters Avery, and she was anxiously awaiting Bailey, who is due in February; one brother Donald of Godfrey, IL; and one sister Lori of Bethalto, IL.

Funeral services for Sondra will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery.
