STAN CHANEY

Stanley Eugene Chaney passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri after a long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. Stan was born on March 15, 1941 in Gainesville, Missouri to Leonard and Hattie (Wilson) Chaney. On November 3, 1958 Stan and Barbara Farless were married in Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Chaney of the home in Gainesville, Missouri; daughter Arlene Merriman and husband Robert of Gainesville, Missouri; son Kerry Chaney of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Amanda DeVries and husband Jimmy, Bobbi Agnew and husband Mike, Kristy Chaney and Cody Chaney; great grandchildren Alexis, Jaima and Justus DeVries and Allison Chaney; one sister Juanita Smith of Springfield, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Hattie Chaney, three sisters Amy Clark, Ruby Spurlock and Hattie Fay Chaney, and one brother Willard Chaney.
Stan was a life long resident of Ozark County. He attended school at Center Point and Gainesville High School. He worked with his dad, Leonard, in the business that his dad had established, Chaney Monuments. He also raised cattle for many years. After selling the monument business, Stan became a truck driver, with him and Barb driving together for several years. When he got tired of being on the road, he started working for Nash and Sons and has continued there for the last 20 years. He loved spending time with his family, he was a great PaPa. He was a member of the Frontier Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting with his friends, attending church and listening to gospel music. He always had a smile.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 2:00 PM, Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, Missouri, with Ron Pinckney officiating. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery.
