STELLA MAE KING

Stella Mae King, 91, of Gainesville, MO passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR. She was born in Ozark County on September 18, 1922, the eldest daughter of John and Dora (Harris) Dougherty.

On June 7, 1941, she married Isaiah King. They lived in Ozark County all of their lives except for a short time spent in Arizona. At the time of his death they had been married 56 years.

In earlier years, Mrs. King worked at Skeeter's Café in Gainesville and in the lunch room at the Gainesville Schools while raising six children. Stella was a member of Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Isaiah in 1997; son, Basil in 1978; daughter, Denise Hambelton in 2010; two brothers, Tom Dougherty and Joe Dougherty; one sister, Grace Beard.

Four children and their spouses survive: Wayman and Carol King of Gainesville, MO; Debra and Gary Mason of Springfield, MO; Michael and Sherry King of Cameron, OK; Manuel and Crystal King of Nixa, MO. Other survivors are one son-in-law, Ronnie Hambelton of Gainesville, MO; two sisters, Alma Beard of Republic, MO and Lillie Cromer of West Plains, MO; one sister-in-law, Avis Manley of Bakersfield, MO; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Stella will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church with Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Springs Cemetery, Tecumseh, MO. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church Building Fund or to Clear Springs Cemetery and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
