Steven Jay Evans, 56, of Isabella, MO, passed away on April 24, 2013 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR.
Steve was born July 12, 1956, to J.R. and Betty Jo Evans in Kansas City, MO. Steve grew up in Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1974. He spent most of his life working as a mechanic. He began his mechanical career working for his father at Evans' Oil Company in Gainesville. He worked as a bus mechanic and later was the Auto Mechanics teacher for the Gainesville R-5 School district. He worked eighteen years as a mechanic for Ozark County Road and Bridge.
Steve and Teresa Smith were united in Marriage on August 11, 1973. To this union three children were born, Brandon, Katrina, and Brett. Steve and Teresa made their home on her family farm at Isabella. They have spent over 39 happy years together in Isabella.
Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hadn't missed getting a turkey during Turkey Season since bagging his first turkey at the age of fourteen. Steve was one of the first Walleye and Striper fishermen in this area and was also an accomplished bass fisherman. With the assistance of close friend, Bill Dennis, he turned the family farm into one of the best game reserves in the area. As much as he loved hunting, he loved taking his sons, grandsons, nephews and Austin Thompson to a favorite deer stand, much more.
Steve is survived by his wife, Teresa, of the home, three children, and two grandsons, Wyatt Souder and Logan Funk all of Isabella. Two Sisters, Terri Word and Tina King and husband Rick; two brothers, Mark Evans and wife Dedra and J.R. Evans III; step-mother, Janet Evans, and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Steve was preceded by his parents and step-father, Marty Varnell.
Funeral Services for Steve will be Saturday, April, 27, 2013 at 11a.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO with burial at Isabella Cemetery. Visitation will be held an hour before the service at 10a.m. on Saturday. Memorial may be made to the family as love offering or to the Isabella Cemetery.
