Steven Kenneth "Steve" Gear

Steven Kenneth Gear, 55 years, 4 months, and 20 days old, passed away on July 29, 2015 at Bryant Creek east of Ava.
Steve was born in Millstadt, IL to Kenneth Franklin and Rose Marie (Sitzes) Gear. He graduated from Belleville West High School, Belleville, IL.
Steve was a resident of Valmeyer, IL moving to Ava, MO within a weeks time. He was really looking forward to starting a new life in this community.
On Jan. 15, 1983 Steve and Agnes Elizabeth Candler were united in marriage in Atlanta, GA and to this union one daughter, Rose was born.
Steve received his BA Degree in History at the University of Mississippi "Ole Miss" and he was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity.
He worked in Business Development in alternative media.
He was a very active participant in the Family Brother Program at Assumption Abbey. Steve was a very spiritual Christian and practiced The Jesus Prayer and promoted it in his daily life.
He enjoyed playing the trumpet and played for various Easter and Christmas services in all the churches he attended.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents. Steve is survived by his wife, Agnes Gear, Ava, MO, one daughter, Rose Gear, Ava, one brother, David Phillip Gear, Anna, IL and many friends.
Funeral services for Steve will be Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Murray Cemetery, Squires, MO. Visitation will be Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. "Butch" McCleary. Burial committal will be performed by Assumption Abbey Monks.
