Sybil Lavon Fleetwood
Ava, Missouri
Sybil Lavon Fleetwood, a woman of grace, strength, and kindness, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 20, 1936, in Niles, California, to Leonard and Reta (Brake) Hampton, Sybil's life was rich with love, character, and hard work.
She spent her childhood between California, Missouri and Iowa, following her parents' work and learning early on the values of resilience and family. On July 10, 1955, she married the love of her youth, Berle "Bob" Turner, and together they made a home in Ava, Missouri, raising two children. Later in life, Sybil found companionship once again in her marriage to Marvin Fleetwood on December 14, 1975, with whom she shared nearly five joyful decades.
Sybil's hands were never idle. As a seamstress, she possessed an extraordinary talent for crafting garments more beautiful than anything found in stores. But it was her heart that truly stitched her into the lives of others. She was magnetic—never meeting a stranger and always offering a listening ear or a helping hand. She gave selflessly, whether tending to aging parents, supporting friends, or caring for Marvin in his later years.
With music always nearby, Sybil didn't need an excuse to dance. Her quick wit, strong opinions, and loving spirit kept her family on their toes and left lasting impressions on all who knew her.
Sybil was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shirley Fleetwood; and her beloved husband, Marvin. Cherishing her memory are her children, Dennis Turner and wife Linda, Brenda McClure and husband David; her grandchildren, Amy Wagoner (Brian), Shane Turner, Shelly Gallaway, and Dusty McClure (Summer); seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Kye, Chloe, Sawyer, Luxx, and Rydge; and two great-great-granddaughters, Daisy and Evelyn. In addition, we need to mention her special
dog, Minnie.
Sybil's light continues to shine through the generations she inspired. Her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will be remembered always.
Burial of her cremains will be in the Goodhope Cemetery, Goodhope Missouri. Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Inc. Ava, Missouri.
