Sylvia Rodriguez Metcalf. 56 years, 4 months, and 23 days passed on 08/23/2018 at 2:12 pm.
She fought a strong battle of liver cancer and waiting for a liver transplant. Her caregivers at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, Mo, provided much appreciated support through her transition from life to eternal life. She would have wanted to thank them all for that loving help.
Sylvia was born on March 24, 1962 to Roman and Juanita Rodriguez in Ulysses, Kansas, she was the 7 th child of 12 children. She attended school in Ulysses, Kansas and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Interior Design at Dodge City Community College. She also earned her CNA and worked at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
She met and married Harold Metcalf of Crossroads, Missouri, who was living in Sublet, Kansas. They were united in Holy Matrimony on August 3 rd of 1985, it was a holy Sacrament that meant so much to her. They lived in Sublet, Kansas, had their only Son, Andrew Metcalf. They moved to Ava, Missouri in 1999 and then settled in Camdenton, Mo in the year of 2002. Sylvia enjoyed the lake life, she loved to look out of her windows and see the boats cruise the lake. Seeing the different seasons and the beauty they would behold year after year. She loved to visit her neighbors at Lake Breeze Resort and enjoyed sitting by the dock and fish. Visiting Sylvia was always a joy and a tremendous adventure of laughter. Sylvia loved the simple things of life and the lake life is simple and relaxing. In her last 3 years she enjoyed volunteer work at Dog Wood Animal Shelter. Sylvia always loved staying busy and enjoyed her gym membership.
She is proceeded in death by her mother and father, Juanita and Roman Rodriguez, 3 brothers, Jesse, Tofilio and Ramone Rodriguez. 2 nephews Eden Rodriguez and Brian Roble.
She is survived by her spouse, Harold Metcalf of Camdenton, Mo, son Andrew Metcalf also of Camdenton, Mo, her daughter Laura and her husband Kyle Krier and her two grandchildren, Ayden and Ayslynn Krier of Concordia, Kansas. Her brothers Sisto Rodriguez and his wife Janie, Mario Rodriguez and his wife Shambrecia, sisters, Herminia Parada and her husband Nicholas, Nancy and her husband Jimmy Guerrero of Ulysses, Kansas. Her brother, Roman Rodriguez of Desoto, Kansas, Simon Chavez and his wife Shaunacey of Grandview, Mo, her sister Frances Rodrigues of Atlanta, Ga, sister Angie Leos and her husband Ron of St Louis, Mo. 14 nephews, 15 nieces, 14 great nephews, 13 great nieces and 4 great-great nephews and 2 great-great nieces. She will be missed and, in our hearts, and prayers.
Funeral Mass for Sylvia will be Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Ava, MO with burial to follow in the Union Grove Cemetery, Ava, MO. A Rosary will be held, Monday, August 27, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Father Paul Wightman. Memorials can be made to the Union Grove Cemetery.Rosary
