Ted Lee Jackson, 87 years, passed away on November 22, 2013 at his home with his family.
Ted was born March 25, 1926 in Springfield, MO to Walter Lee and Vivian (Parkey) Jackson.
On Nov. 18, 1948 Ted and Helen Maurine Eimer were united in marriage in Tulsa, OK and to this union four children were born.
Ted was a resident of the Ava community since 1981 moving from Tulsa, OK. He grew up close to his Jackson grandparents in Springfield, MO. During the depression years, Ted moved with his family to Tulsa, OK, where his father had found work as a millright. He was baptized as a young man at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School, with special interrests in Automechics and Manual Arts. After his marriage, he and Helen built and operated midget race cars for a few years. He continued to follow racing venues for many years. He was a retired Engineer for Refinery Companies. He also enjoyed farming and the freedom of country life.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen, a son-in-law, Bill Hood and a daughter-in-law, Vicky Jackson.
Ted is survived by four children and their spouses; Dianne Hood, Springfield, MO, Connie & Jack Schmidt,Cedaredge, Colorado, Mike & Daretta Jackson, Tulsa, OK and Pat Jackson,Boscobel, WI, seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and other friends and relatives.
Funeral services for Ted will be Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, 2:00 p.m.at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat. from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Neal Crumm. Memorials may be made to Union Grove Cemetery or donors choice of charity.
