Thelma Mary Call, daughter of Warren Miller Strait and Ella (Heatherington) Strait was born Nov. 5, 1903 in Sweden, Missouri and departed this life in Ava, MO on Nov. 30, 2006 at the age of 103 years and 25 days.

Thelma was a life long resident of the Ava area. Thelma and Alva "Ivy" P. Call were united in marriage on Feb. 19, 1922 in Squires, Missouri and to this union ten children were born. Thelma was a housewife and worked on the farm with her husband, Ivy. She was a member of the Baptist Church and taught Sunday school and also taught school.

Thelma enjoyed working in the garden, working puzzles, and writing letters. She was a great cook and adored her family.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ivy, one son, Loren, one daughter, Mary, a stillborn son, three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by seven children, Clarence Call, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Vera Fields, Torrance, CA, Cecil Call, Rochelle, IL, Dorothy Miller, Gainesville, MO, Troy Call, West Plains, MO, Phyllis Robertson, Mansfield, MO, Ralph Call, Ava, MO, 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with the Rev. Max Stephens officiating. Interment will be in the Girdner Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 5 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
