Theodore L. Mead, 84
A memorial service for Theodore L. Mead, 84, of Theodosia, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, at the Dugginsville Community Church south on P Highway near Theodosia.
Mr. Mead died from cancer March 6 at his home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1932, in Kansas City, the son of Wilbur and Merle Haynes Mead. He served in the 82nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion, Second Division, in the Korean War, 1950-51, and remained in the Army until 1953. He then joined the Air Force and became a crew chief on a refueling KC-47 jet, serving from 1957 through 1960.
In Kansas City he worked in high-rise construction, including the building of Crown Center for Hallmark Cards. He moved to Ozark County in 1972, where he built houses and was known for his carpentry skills. He also worked for Wallace Well Drilling of Theodosia.
He left Ozark County in 1981 and moved to Bunnell, Florida, with Kathryn S. Davis, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1984, at the United Methodist Church in Bunnell. They returned to Ozark County in 1992 to fully retire and enjoy the people and the land here, which he truly loved.
He is survived by Kathryn, his wife of 31 years, and a foster daughter, Teresa Myers, both of Theodosia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ardith Burnsworth Mead, formerly of Kansas City.
