Obituary

Thomas Popp, 90, of Gainesville, died June 4, 2021, at his home. No services are planned at this time.

He was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Evelyn and Thomas Popp.

He grew up in Illinois and spent four years in the Army, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic most of his adult life, both in business for himself and sometimes employed by others.

On Sept. 5, 1951, in Dixon, Illinois, he married Phyllis Becker.

After his retirement 30 years ago, the Popps moved to Ozark County, where he enjoyed gardening and fishing and farming their land. He was a great father and grandfather and a devoted husband, sometimes working two and three jobs to provide for his family. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was known as someone who would give the shirt off his back if someone else needed it.

While their health allowed, the Popps attended church for several years at Mammoth Assembly of God.

Mr. Popp is survived by his daughter, Nancie Arnn and husband Doug of Scottsdale, Arizona, and his son, Timothy Popp and wife Brenda of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, who died June 6, 2019.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO
