THURLO DANIAL "T.D." CRAWFORD

Thurlo Danial "T.D." Crawford, 88, passed from this life in his home in Gainesville, MO on July 16, 2010. He was born on March 21, 1922 at Howards Ridge, MO, the son of John W. and Mabel (Stuttsman) Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was a United States Army veteran who saw combat duty in Europe and North Arfica during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, he owned and operated first a general store in Midway, AR, from 1945 until 1958, then the livestock auction in Gainesville, MO, from 1958 to 1970. For the remainder of his career, he was engaged in cattle farming and order buying. On September 5, 1942, T.D. was united in marriage to Valeta Hathcock in West Plains, MO. They have shared a wonderful 67 years together.

Mr. Crawford made his profession of faith and was baptized in 1978. He served as a deacon in the Calvary Baptist Church of Gainesville for several years. For the last nineteen years, he has been a faithful member of the Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church in Gainesville. Though sorry to leave friends and family, he was eager to meet the Lord. He will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Valeta, daughter Carolyn Thomas of Republic, MO; son Les Crawford of Springfield, MO; and son Ken Crawford of Gainesville, MO. Mr. Crawford is also survived by eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister Bernadean Gaulding of Kansas City, MO; and sister Johnalee Suter of Gainesville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel Crawford and a sister Chlorene Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. Interment will be in the Lilly Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 18th from 2 – 4 pm at the funeral home.
