Tony Jenkins

Ava, MO

Tony Frank Jenkins, 83 years, 4 months, and 11days old, passed to Heaven on June 2, 2016 at his home in Ava with his family by his side.

Tony was born in Ava, MO, to William Grant and Mary Lou Visa (Sartin) Jenkins. He graduated from Ava High School.

Tony was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean War.

Tony started work at Herald Publishing Co. in high school. After two years in the service he returned to work there. He worked there as Editor for many years before retiring. He had more than 40 years of dedication and service to the paper. Throughout the years, Tony's opinions and input were always welcomed by staff members, as he was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of printing and the newspaper business.

Tony and Lucille Huff were united in marriage on May 26, 1951 in Mtn. Home AR. They were blessed with two children.

In his younger years, Tony enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. The last few years Tony really loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Tony was a Christian.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Adam Clay McGill, four brothers and six sisters.


Tony is survived by his wife, Lucille, of the home, his children, Toni Ann McGill and husband, David, and Ronald Keith Jenkins, four grandchildren, Derek McGill and wife Melissa, Tyler McGill, Kevin Jenkins, and Steven Jenkins, great-grandchildren, Blaise and Dylan McGill, a very special caregiver and friend, Kristen McFarlin, many more family and friends.


Graveside services for Tony will be Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denney Cemetery (K Hwy), Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Denney Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
