Tonyia Leanne Calvin, 68 years, 5 months, 3 days old, passed away on June 29, 2026, at her home.

Tonyia was born January 26, 1958, in Mansfield, Missouri, to Gary Edwin “Tony” and Verna Darlene (Dobbs) Calvin.

Tonyia grew up in the Kansas City, Missouri area. She graduated from Ruskin High School and later continued her education at University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri.

She worked as an office administrator with Sun Aviation that sold aviation parts in Kansas City. She was also a wonderful homemaker and mom.

Tonyia was a longtime member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City where she taught Sunday School and was active in choir, handbells, and vacation bible school. She volunteered at Heartland School of Therapeutic Riding in Kansas City, where she helped disabled children learn to ride horses. Tonyia was also a talented artist. She loved to paint and help design sets for church plays and programs. Tonyia could also play piano and clarinet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, “Tony” and Darlene Calvin; her sisters, Tamara (Tammy) Ragusa and Teresa (Terri) Carey.

Tonyia is survived by her son, Jordan Dennis Edwards; her brother, Clayton Calvin; nieces; nephews; cousins; and numerous friends.

A private family burial of her cremains was held in Denney Cemetery, Ava, Missouri near her parent’s graves per Tonyia’s request. Cremation services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
