Unalea Kirk, 77 years, 7 months, and 4 days old, passed away on May 13, 2011 at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, MO.

Unalea was born October 9, 1933 in Culp, AR to Arthur and Dora (Alexander) Acklin.

Unalea was a resident of Gainesville, MO for the several years. She owned and operated three different General Mercantile Stores in the area. She was a Christian and had attended church in Romance, MO ministered by Jim Kyle.

Unalea enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping, gardening and most of all being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Unalea loved to tell stories and enjoyed visiting with many people. She never knew a stranger.

Unalea was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Danny Torrell, a step son, Michael Kirk, her spouse of 17 years, Carl E. Kirk and nine brothers and sisters.


Unalea is survived by her children, Hershel "Butch" & Beth Strong, Gainesville, MO, Edward & Mattie Kirk, Magnolia, AR, Sandy & Scott Kirkover, Marshfield, MO, Wynoka Roberts, West Plains, MO and Steven O. Kirk, Texas, 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, two sisters, Trib and Mary and other relatives and friends.




Graveside services for Unalea will be Tuesday, May 17, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Galatia Cemetery, Norfork, AR. Visitation will be Monday, May 16, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Kyle. Memorials may be made to Galatia Cemetery.
