Velma Jewel Billingsley, 87 years, 5 months, 29 days old, passed away on January 4, 2018 at her home in Sparta, MO with her family by her side.
Velma was born July 6, 1930 in Dunlap, MO to John Harvey and Harriet (Haynor) McGuire.
She was retired from working at Emerson Electric in Ava, MO. She had also worked at Trenton Foods in Trenton, MO for years before moving to Ava.
On July 6, 1962, Velma and James Walter Billingsley were united in marriage in Ava, MO and they were blessed with three children.
Velma was a Christian. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, antiquing, and most of all her joy was being with her family and grandchildren!
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Walter in 2006, and eleven siblings. She is survived by her children and their spouses, J.T. & June Billingsley, Sparta, MO, David Billingsley, Ohio, and Jeffery & Maggi Billingsley, Branson, MO, three step children, 23 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one brother, George McGuire, and one sister, Sarah Elder, both of Trenton, MO, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Velma will be Wed. Jan. 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church, Ava, MO with burial in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 9 th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava. Officiating will be Pastor Ed Keithley. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.Visitation
