Velma Edith Duckworth, 80 years, 5 months, and 29 days old, passed to Heaven on April 20, 2015 at her home with her loving husband and family by her side.
Velma was born October 22, 1934 in Pansy, MO to Roy and Kate (Nelson) Davis.
Velma and Bill Duckworth were united in marriage on March 9, 1953 in Mtn. Home, AR and to this union two daughters were born.
Velma was a retired secretary and assistant for 12 years with Journagan Construction Co. in Springfield, MO. Velma was a Christian and was attending the Ava General Baptist Church. She enjoyed embroidery, reading books, especially her Bible, caretaking her flowers and garden and keeping Bill in line. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ronald Davis and two sisters, Leora Graham and Erma Cudney.
Velma is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home, daughters, Pamela Stout, and husband, Terry, Independence, MO, and Valerie Stanton, and husband, Tim, Ava, MO, six grandchildren, Terra & Jason Hicks, Aaron Stanton, Holly & Sam Medlin, Kyle Wendland and fiancee`, Lindsay Schroeder, Kael Jackson and Devin Stanton, eight great grandchildren; Grayson, Maddox, Ashton, Skylar, Carissa, Chasity, Emily & Houston, two brothers and their wives, Bob & Florence Davis, Hugoton, KS and Max & Wilma Davis, Argyle, TX; many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Velma will be Sat. April 25, 2015, 11:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn and Pastor James Hathcock. Memorials may be made to Goodhope Cemetery.
