Irene Johnson, 93 years, passed to heaven on April 15, 2010 at Marshfield Care in Marshfield, MO.

Irene was born March 26, 1917 in Thornfield, MO to Elmer and Ella (Dunkley) Delp.

Irene was a lifelong resident of the Ava and Thornfield communities. She also lived at Noble, MO on the farm for several years. On September 12, 1940 Irene and Paul Johnson were united in marriage at Thornfield, MO and to this union one son was born.
Irene was a Christian and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava. In her early years she taught school for a few years and later cooked for Chastains Nursing Home in Ava, MO. She loved to cook for her friends and family and loved going to church.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, one grandson, David Johnson, three sisters, her twin, Pauline Loftin, Betty Fuller and Amy Hobbs and one brother, Edwin "Sonny" Delp.

Irene is survived by her son & wife, Leo & Carolyn Johnson, Yukon, OK, two brothers & their spouses, Dorman & Phyllis Delp, Springdale, AR and J.D. & Viva Delp, Springfield, MO, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Irene will be Monday, April 19, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Roberts.
