Vena Smith, 74 years, 2 days passed away on August 18, 2014 at her home in Ava.

Vena was born August 16, 1940 in Almartha, MO. Her parents were Luther and Pearl (Handy) Dye. She graduated from School of the Ozarks in Hollister, MO.

Vena was a resident of the Ava community.
On June 22, 1960 Vena and Carl Eugene Smith were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union three children were born.

She was a homemaker and a hard worker on the farm. She enjoyed working outdoors all the time. She enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, taking care of her dog, Blackie and being with her family. Vena was a Christian and a member of Souder Church of Christ.

Vena was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Randy, one brother, Hubert Dye and a sister, Beverly Schofield.

Vena is survived by her husband, Carl Smith, Ava, MO, two daughters, June Hitchcock and Juanita Wilkerson both of Ava, MO,
four grandchildren, Judah Wilkerson, Larry Hitchcock, Joshua Wilkerson and April Hitchcock, several great grandchildren, one brother, Danny Harris, Ava, MO, sister-in-law & husband, Wanda & Ival Rowe, Springfield and brother-in-law, Junior & Cindy Smith, Ava, MO, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.




Graveside services for Vena will be Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, 1:00 p.m. in the Souder Cemetery, Ozark County, MO. Officiating will be E.J. Hampton. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
