VERA RUSSIAN
Vera Russian, 93, of Gainesville, MO passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Care Manor in Mountain Home, AR. Vera was born June 15, 1922 in Council Bluffs, IA, the daughter of Orval and Selma (Albers) Wilson.
She graduated from Logan High School in Iowa and on March 26, 1941 she married Merle Pitt. They had four children. Vera also had one brother, Bernard Wilson. Vera had worked as a waitress and nurse's aid. She was retired from the Gainesville Elementary School Library, where she enjoyed the school field trips. She loved to play bingo with friends, quilting, sitting outdoors to enjoy nature, basketball, her roses and watching birds visiting her many feeders. On September 25, 1963 she was united in marriage to Sid Russian. The couple had two children.
Vera was a Christian; she was saved and baptized early in life.
She is survived by five children: Carl Pitt of Oregon, IL, Judy Brahmsteadt of Pilger, NE, Theodore Rodney Pitt of Oregon, IL, Charles Russian and wife Laura of Gainesville, MO and Clifton Russian and wife Roberta of O'Fallon, MO; her grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; her husband Sidney Russian; one daughter Rosalyn Julene Crawford; and one son-in-law John Brahmsteadt.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Bro. Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Lilly Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from Noon to service time at the funeral home. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Lilly Ridge Cemetery.
