Verlin Dewane "Dain" Lambert, 72 years, 4 months, and 26 days old, passed to heaven on May 3, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.

Dain was born December 8, 1938 in Norwood, MO to Archie and Viona (Hicks) Lambert.

Dain was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. On December 29, 1961 Dain and Sandy Downing were united in marriage in Rock Island, IL and to this union one daughter, Dana was born.

Dain was a beef farmer, logger and truck driver. He was a veteran and had served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He loved fishing, working with his cattle and being with his grandsons and great granddaughters. Dain enjoyed watching the St. Louis baseball Cardinals and PBR bull riding.

Dain was preceded in death by his parents.

Dain is survived by his wife, Sandy Lambert, Ava, MO,one daughter, Dana & Robby Smith, Drury, MO, two grandsons,Ryan & Kristin Smith, Norwood, MO and Brandon & Breanne Smith, Ava, MO, three great granddaughters, Kinley, Ally and Macy Smith, three brothers, Bill Lambert, Springfield, MO, Wes and Charles Lambert both of Ava, MO, one sister, Glenna Henson, Springfield, MO, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to the family as a Love Offering. Officiating the visitation is Rev. Dale Garrison. Cremation is being conducted by Clinkingbeards.
