Vernon Joe Coy, 69 years, 8 months, and 26 days old, passed away on June 26, 2020 at Harry S. Truman Memorial VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri with his loving wife, Lynda by his side.
Vernon was born September 30, 1950 in West Plains, Missouri.
He was the son of William and step-mother, Ruth Coy, WA, and Irene and step-father, Willard Thompson, MO.
Vernon was a Navy Veteran and served during Viet Nam.
Vernon and Lynda (Tilson) Gale were united in marriage on February 4, 2018 in Dawt, Missouri.
Vernon enjoyed hunting and feeding the wildlife. He loved spending time with his wife and playing with his grandchildren.
Vernon was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, one brother, Ray Coy, one sister, Lisa Flenoy and a niece, Jacque Howard.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Lynda Coy, of the home, two sisters, Trenta Wooten, AR, and Freeda Evans, MO, four children, Bianca Bauer, Russell Roby and wife, Lacey, Casey Gale and wife Jessica, and Britney Evans and husband, Brett, 12 grandchildren, Cooper, Corah, Austin, Daegin, Davyn, Brandyn, Brooklyn, Kaitlyn, Kayden, Claire, Emmett, and MaryEmma, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Memorial service for Vernon will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dawt Church of Christ with Full Military Honors by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 and U.S. Navy Detail. Officiating will be Pastor Erman Croney. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital. Cremation services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Inc. in Ava, Missouri per Vernon's wishes.
