Funeral Services for Violet (Sue)Bowers,
94, of Salem, MO. will be held Saturday,
January 15, 2011 at Clinkingbeard Funeral
Chapel in Gainesville, MO. Burial will be in the
Pontiac Cemetery. Services will be officiated by
Pastor Jeff Corder.
Mrs. Bowers died at 12:55, January 12, 2011
at Seville Nursing Home where she was
in rehabilitation after a recent heart attack.
She was born February 21, 1916 in Dent County, MO
the daughter of William Adolph and Fredonia
Jane (Gamblin) Warden.
Violet married Leroy (Bus) Bowers on
September 4, 1937. Leroy preceded her in death
in 1974. She and her husband lived in St. Louis
during the early years of their marriage and built
a home in Salem on the old family plot to visit on
weekends. When they retired they lived in a home
Leroy had built in Pontiac, MO. near Bull Shoals Lake.
After Mr.Bowers death, she remained in Pontiac to be
near her brother Howard Warden and his wife Viola
who both passed away in 1993. Shortly after their
death, she moved to Salem where she remained
until her death.
Mrs. Bowers is survived by her dear sister
Dorothy Warden Bowers of Salem who was married
to the late Cecil Bowers, brother of Leroy Bowers.
Mrs. Bowers, having no children of her own, was very
close to her nephew Bill Bowers and wife Sandy
of Salem and her niece Darleen (Dee) Warden
Welshans and husband Ed of St. Charles, MO.
She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews,
great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and
nephews.
