Violet Virginia Lakey, 89 years, 3 months, 9 days old, passed away on January 6, 2017 at her home.
Violet was born September 28, 1927 in Douglas County, Missouri to Mark and Della (Laurie) Stall.
Violet and (William) Eutah Lakey were united in marriage December 17, 1950 in Douglas County, MO. They were blessed with two daughters. After they married she attended SMS in Springfield and got her teaching certificate. She taught school at Breeden and Ongo communities. Violet was a hard worker. She also worked on the farm with Eutah, owned and operated her upholstery business at Elkhead and Ava.
Violet was a Christian and had attended the Dogwood Nazarene Church.
She enjoyed playing her fiddle at Ava Nursing Homes and Ava Senior Citizens. She also loved being in the outdoors and milking her cows with Eutah and made hand sewn blankets and hats for cancer patients. Most of all her joy was being with her family!
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eutah in 2007, three brothers, Ernie, Willie, and Jimmy Stall.
Violet is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Glyndora and Tim Oeltjen, Carthage, MO, Marilyn and Charles Aldridge, Sparta, MO, six grandchildren, Valerie, Melanie, David, Brad, Kyle and Erin, 12 great-grandchildren, one sister, Goldie Lakey, Seymour, MO, many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Funeral services for Violet will be Monday, January 9th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Stillings Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 9th prior to service from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Officiating will be Rev. Bob Huskey.
