Violet "Vi" Louise Woods
Violet Louise Woods the daughter of Frankie William Charmasson and Alice (Wells) Charmasson was born Jan. 6, 1929 in Woodward, Ok and departed this life April 13, 2007 at the age of 78 years 3 months and 7 days.
Vi was a resident of Mansfield, Mo for the past 4 years moving there from Ava, MO. In 1946 Vi and Harold H. Coombes were united in marriage in Woodward, OK, after his passing she met and married Bob Woods on May 15, 1964, in Wichita, KS.
Vi was a secretary for Production Credit Association for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield. Vi enjoyed crochet, reading, jigsaw puzzles, attending grandchildren's functions, going to Sunday school, being a tour guide at Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum. She became a reality show critic the last few years enjoying Dancing with the Stars, Deal or No Deal, and American Idol. Vi was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Ava
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Harold and Bob, one son Jim Coombes, a son-in-law Ron Durham, a brother Eli Charmasson, and a step sister Euleda.
Vi is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Durham of Springfield, Brenda and Rod Garrett of Springfield, Sonya and Larry Hesterly of Mansfield, a daughter-in- law Linda Coombes Peters of Colorado Springs, CO. Six grandchildren, Rob and Sandy Durham, Jerry and Kim Durham, Angela Durham, Scott and Mindy Hesterly, Shelby and Chris Jenkins, and Ray Coombes, Nine Great Grandchildren, Brandon, Kyanni, Preston, Micah, Austyn, Gavynn, Samantha, Jordyn, and Riley. Also surviving is a sister Eva Mae Wheeler, a half sister, Connie Shirlene Garrett, one step sister, Geneva Michaels, and a step brother Ray Covalt.
Services will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, with Pastor Dick Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 6 to 7 P. M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Missions.
